Dress Design For Shabby Apple Dresses

Shabby Apple is a great store to visit if you are looking for modest clothing. You will find a large selection of cute dresses! I saw that they were having a dress design contest, called Dare To Design, and I just had to design a dress. I sketched a lot of dresses, but this is the one that I kept envisioning.  The a-line bodice has a vintage feel, but the placement of the ruffle gives it a modern twist.  I was inspired by a jacket I saw a few weeks ago that had a side ruffle.  I thought a wide, strong ruffle, would look great on a dress.  The dress is wrap around style so that it can be pulled to fit just right, and tied in the back. This dress would probably lay the best in a cotton poplin material. It would be pretty in red, royal blue, or emerald green.  This design is unique in the sense that it would be flattering on different body types.  The curve of the ruffle creates the look of a small waist while it draws attention away from a small or large chest.  I tried to create something which is romantic, yet chic; classic, yet modern.  The top 15 dresses will be chosen and posted on their blog.  The design which receives the most votes will be featured as part of their spring collection!
