Dress Design For Shabby Apple Dresses

Shabby Apple is a great store to visit if you are looking for modest clothing. You will find a large selection of cute dresses! I saw that they were having a dress design contest, called Dare To Design, and I just had to design a dress. I sketched a lot of dresses, but this is the one that I kept envisioning.  The a-line bodice has a vintage feel, but the placement of the ruffle gives it a modern twist.  I was inspired by a jacket I saw a few weeks ago that had a side ruffle.  I thought a wide, strong ruffle, would look great on a dress.  The dress is wrap around style so that it can be pulled to fit just right, and tied in the back. This dress would probably lay the best in a cotton poplin material. It would be pretty in red, royal blue, or emerald green.  This design is unique in the sense that it would be flattering on different body types.  The curve of the ruffle creates the look of a small waist while it draws attention away from a small or large chest.  I tried to create something which is romantic, yet chic; classic, yet modern.  The top 15 dresses will be chosen and posted on their blog.  The design which receives the most votes will be featured as part of their spring collection!

How To Make Any Bridal Gown More Modest

There are several ways to enhance the coverage of a gown to make it more modest. The simplest thing to do is to purchase a gown that already has the coverage you desire. There are many modest bridal gown designs and accessories to increase the modesty of a dress at http://www.alwaysmodestbridal.com/.  However, some brides may find a gown that could be modified to give them the coverage they need. You will find some great ideas to make any bridal gown or formal dress more modest.
Let's start with building a dress up. Many dresses just need a small panel added to the neckline or back to provide more coverage. Make sure to find a good tailor, and find fabric that matches as perfectly as possible to the rest of the dress, or a coordinating material that suits the design of the dress. A creative way to build up a dress is to have trim such as beading, lace, or faux fur added alone or to the inserted panel. Then the tailor can also add the same trimming to the edge of the sleeves or the bottom of the dress to make the whole dress look complete.

Dresses can even be modified as much as having sleeves attached. This can be problematic however. It is not an easy task to make the sleeves look natural, but with the right tailor and the right dress, it just might be possible. Keep in mind this will take quite a bit of extra time to complete the dress.
Many dresses have sheer sleeves or sheer bodices that are nearly tranparent. A bride may choose to add lining to the inside of the dress to make it less transparent. Discuss with your tailor how to go about doing this. You may choose to add an extra layer of sheer material, or a more opaque fabric to the inside of the dress. Another thing a bride could try is adding a sheer bodysuit under a dress. This can add a full sheer layer of coverage to any dress, even a strapless gown.

Another way to add extra coverage is with a bolero jacket, wrap, or stole. There are many beautiful designs in a variety of different fabrics. This can instantly add coverage to a dress without the hassle of alterations. Jackets and wraps can add coverage to dresses that are sleeveless, strapless, have low necklines, or low backs. They can also be a great fix for bridesmaid dresses. A great variety of modest bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, bolero jackets, and wraps can be found at http://www.alwaysmodestbridal.com/.
